Small Change is the main donor of Ungweru. It is a charitable organisation based in Cork and run by the Fitzpatrick Family.
Patrick and Johanna, Mark, Ciaran, Aine and Maeve Fitzpatrick spent time in Mzuzu in 2005. They lectured at Mzuzu University, visited HIV/AIDS groups, Home Based Care Groups, Child Day Care Centres, taught English and Drama, played with children, interacted with youth, entered the lives of many in different ways and when they were leaving promised not to forget the people they shared so much with. Small Change grew out of this promise and is the efforts of the Fitzpatricks to remain in contact with Mzuzu.
Like Ungweru, Small Change has grown enormously over the past couple of year. It now consists of a large network of various friends and acquaintances of the Fitzpatricks both within Ireland and beyond. A website for Small Change is being prepared by Jack McCarthy and we look forward to seeing it soon.
