Multipurpose Hall
In 2007, St. Augustine’s Catholic Parish proposed to build a multipurpose hall in order to provide the Parish and the surrounding community with a space for activities. With a volunteer committee elected, the project commenced with donors located by Fr. John Ryan. Ungweru was placed responsible for monitoring and passing funds to the projects.
Currently, there are five phases of the project including:
Phase 1: Foundation and Slab phase (completed in March 2009) – Expenditure Report
Phase 2: Supper Structure (completed in September 2009) – Expenditure Report
Phase 3: Roofing (current stage)
Phase 4: Wiring, plumbing, plastering, flooring, fixing doors and drains
Phase 5: Painting and fixing glasses in the windows etc
As a community driven project, communities surrounding the St Augustine’s Parish
contributed the following towards the project:
Sand valued at MK108,000.
Bricks valued at MK567,000.00
Quarry stones valued at MK792,000.00
Unskilled labour valued at MK214,800.00
Total community contribution being MK 1,681,800.00
